Messenger Coffee has two shops in the Plaza, featuring Ibis baked goods. Bruú tea shop also in the Plaza. Thou Mayest is in the Nelson Atkins Museum. And Crow’s Coffee is across the street from Whole Foods by the UMKC campus. (Of course there is a Starbuck’s too!)

UMKC’s Swinney Gym has community memberships for especially reasonable rates. The pool has retractable walls for summer swimming in the sun. The KC Plaza Tennis Center is one-block away. And there are yoga, cycling, and pilates studios dotted through the Plaza and South Plaza.

Visit the Nelson Atkins Museum or Kemper Museum—Stop in for a quick minute to see a favorite piece of art, take an hour to see a new exhibition, or spend the day. Become members, or visit for free. The Nelson is now home to the Tivoli Arthouse movie theatre. Walk through the inspiring campus of Kansas City Art Institute. Don’t forget to visit Cafe Sebastienne or Roselle Court restaurants in the museums. Conveniently on the UMKC Campus, the KC Rep professional theatre company.
